Spinnage (Hideo Teramoto)
Spinnage is a deep house producer and DJ based in Tokyo, Japan.
His love for music began with Art of Noise’s ‘Moments in Love’, Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls’, and M/A/R/R/S’ ‘Pump Up the Volume’ — but actually, it was 808 State’s ‘Pacific’ that opened the door to house music for him.
While digging into New York and Chicago house and Detroit techno, he also found himself immersed in the hip hop of Ninja Tune and Massive Attack, the techno of LFO and Ian O’Brien, the drum’n’bass of LTJ Bukem and 4hero, the futuristic funk of Jamiroquai, and the broken beats of West London led by Laws of Motion.
Eventually, Jimpster, Reel People, and Atjazz guided him back to house music once again.
In short: British music has always been with him.
Since March 2022, he’s been producing house music under the name Spinnage, releasing tracks on labels such as Ohmelya (France), Gents & Dandy’s (Belgium), Deep Clicks and Agua Salada (Spain).
His music is all about a spinning marriage of feminine elegance and electronic solidity — a balance he’s continually working on, refining that recipe through both his productions and DJ mixes.
He’s been to London a few times on business trips in the video game industry — though unfortunately, he never made it to the Tate Modern or the British Museum. All he really remembers is taking a nap in Hyde Park!
